Guidelines Recommendations for starting a think Tank

For new institute leaders, we recommend reading Guidelines and Recommendations for Starting an Institute, which summarizes essential lessons Atlas has learned from more than two decades working with think tanks. A spanish version of it 'Una guía para la creación y la administración de institutos de estudios públicos' is available as a Microsoft Word document.  Atlas also maintains a page of links to other  Spanish-language tools related to non-profit management.

Please also consult our running list of Recommended Readings and Resources on Management and our page, ' Readings Lists for Members of the Freedom Movement. ' We hope to help you find titles that expand your horizons, keep you inspired and give you the tools to build an effective institute!

Of historical interest, you may enjoy consulting Atlas's Guidelines, Suggestions, and Ideas for Public Policy Institutes. Originally published as Some Do's and Don'ts for Public Policy Institutes in 1983, this collection of wisdom and advice from many of the think tank movement's early champions was updated in the early 1990s. Parts of it have been revised and repackaged in the more recently prepared Guidelines and Recommendations document mentioned above.
